A Place of Ideas, Gatherings, and Care

When I bought this old church in 2021, it was a building that asked to be listened to.
The stained glass, the timber, the light -  everything held echoes of the people who had once gathered here.

Over the past few years, it’s been home to art projects, workshops, a film set, conversations, rehearsals, and small celebrations. Bees made their home above the cross for a time. The Queenie Choir sang here. Artists met after the Unconformity festival to talk about life and ideas. The hall filled with warmth, food, and laughter more than once.

​

I’ve worked to care for the building, repairing the roof, updating electricals, scrubbing walls, painting, and making it functional again, all while keeping its spirit intact. It’s not perfect, and there’s still more to be done, but it has good bones and beautiful energy.

​

The church is heritage-listed and zoned General Residential with an overlay of  Community & Entertainment, which means it can become many things, including a gallery, artist residency, event space, home, or creative business ( ALL STCA). It’s within walking distance of the main street, wine bar, school, and doctor,  right in the heart of Queenstown’s small but growing creative community.
 

Now, it’s time for someone else to take the reins.

I’m selling it not because I’ve fallen out of love with it-  quite the opposite. The space has done its job for me; it opened new doors and helped me fall in love with Queenstown’s wild beauty and community spirit. I’ll continue to work here through my art and projects, but it’s time for this building to begin a new chapter with someone else’s dream at the centre.
